My earliest childhood memories are of the Schwimmbad that was surrounded by fountains and hilly banks, and seemed huge and magical. My Opi took my sister and me there... on the Ubahn and then we walked up a very steep hill. We packed broetchen and he bought us ice cream and took us to the kiosk for little candy treats on the way home. How he had the energy for this outing with 2 young girls is a mystery to me to this day. How I wish he were here today, to thank him. The Hallenbad has been rebuilt and I long to visit it again in the coming summers.
